Class 2 X7R/X8R/BX Dielectrics

X7R, X8R, and BX dielectrics are called “temperature stable” ceramics and fall into EIA Class II materials. A major benefit of the Class II dielectrics is much higher dielectric constant compared to Class I ceramic materials. Temperature variation of capacitance of X7R dielectrics is ±15% from -55°C to +125°C, X8R dielectrics is ±15% from -55°C to +150°C, and BX dielectrics is from +15% to -25% from -55°C to +125°C at rated voltage. Capacitance of Class II dielectrics varies to a certain degree under the influence of operating conditions such as voltage, frequency, and temperature. X7R, X8R, and BX dielectrics cover the broad spectrum of industrial applications where known changes in capacitance at different operating conditions are acceptable.
